On late Sunday night, Louis C.K. performed another surprise set at New York's Comedy Cellar, following in the footsteps of a similar move he conducted in late August.
"He went on around midnight," said a source, according to Page Six. That same source added that a few women walked out on C.K. mid-performance, while also saying "he didn’t address [the #MeToo allegations against him]. He was a little arrogant … he made some comment like, ‘I’ve been off for a while, ‘cause everyone needs a break."
The performance seems to have gone under the radar thus far judging by the (lack of) Twitter activity, at least in contrast with his set from a few weeks back.
That set from late August was described by the club's owner as being "typical Louis C.K. stuff" and “sounded just like he was trying to work out some new material, almost like any time of the last 10 years he would come in at the beginning of a new act.”
As you're probably aware, his late August appearance on stage (which was also at the Comedy Cellar and went on for about 15 minutes) was the first time he had done stand-up since a November 2017 report was released by The New York Timesproviding details from a number of women accusing C.K. of masturbating in front of them. The comedian later confirmed that "these stories are true" before taking a hiatus from the public spotlight.
