Johnny Depp's 'City Of Lies' Has Been Pulled a Month Before Its Release

'City of Lies,' the upcoming movie based on the investigation into Biggie's murder, has been pulled from its September 7 release date.

City of Lies, the crime thriller based on the real-life investigation into Biggie's murder, which stars Johnny Depp and Forest Whitaker, was slated for a September 7 release date. However, that's no longer the case.

Last summer, the film's original distributor, Open Road, was acquired by Global Road. That new distributor is yet to provide a new date for the movie's release, according to Deadline. If/when the movie sees the light of day, you'll get an opportunity to see Depp playing detective Russell Poole, and Whitaker playing a journalist, both of whom are investigating the officially unsolved March 1997 drive-by shooting that claimed the legendary rapper's life.

This newest development comes just a few weeks after a lawsuit was leveled against Depp in which the film's location manager accused the oft-troubled star of assault and battery on the set in April of last year. That suit was reportedly filed on July 9, and named the picture's director (Brad Furman), as well as the its producers, in a bid that sought damages for claims that include: retaliation, a hostile work environment, and wrongful termination.

A trailer for the film was released back in May. If you missed it, you can check it out below.
