Deadpool Almost Became a Father in the Upcoming Sequel

During an interview that Ryan Reynolds conducted as a part of this week's cover story for Entertainment Weekly, he revealed a pretty major axed plotline for the upcoming film Deadpool 2. Hopefully this revelation doesn't qualify as a spoiler, but I suppose it could if you were convinced Deadpool was destined to be a dad in the newest movie or something.

Yep, that's right. The movie's star and co-writer stated that original drafts for the script took place about five years after the first film with Deadpool becoming a father, though the writers quickly figured that this idea wasn't particularly sustainable.

"The genesis of it was “What if Deadpool had a child?” Like, what if we started five years later and what would that be like? By page 1.5, it was totally untenable," Reynolds said. "We were just like, ‘Nope. Nope. No, no, no. This is never, ever going to work.’ We went back to the drawing board and kind of reworked it in a way about wanting to have a child, which is something that so many people I know experience on a daily basis — wanting to have a child but can’t."

Reynolds added that the movie is about family masked as a superhero movie, much in the same way the first flick in the series was a love story masked as a superhero movie.

"The first movie is a love story masquerading as a comic book movie," he said. "And this one is kind of a family film masquerading as a comic book film again."
