The Verge reports that Twitter has shut down Politwoops, a group of websites dedicated to cataloging deleted tweets from various politicians. Twitter reportedly cut off the sites' access to their API last Friday, according to a blog post by the Open State Foundation, which ran arms of Politwoops in Canada, Egypt, India, Ireland, South Korea, Tunisia, Turkey, Norway, and the United Kingdom. The U.S. arm was shut down earlier this year.

From the Verge:

While Twitter champions politicians' right to be forgotten, OSF leaders and journalists are speaking out against the tech company's move.

"What politicians say in public should be available to anyone. This is not about typos, but it is a unique insight on how messages from elected politicians can change without notice," said OSF director, Arjan El Fassed.
