Pete Davidson Makes First Public Comments About Ariana Grande Split

Saturday Night Live's Pete Davidson has stayed away from the spotlight since ending his high-profile engagement with pop starlet Ariana Grande. That briefly changed on Saturday night when Davidson made his first public appearance since the news of the split broke.

During Judd & Pete for America, an event that he and Judd Apatow were co-hosting to benefit political group Swing Left, Davidson graced the show with a stand-up set that touched on the current state of his personal life. He confronted the elephant in the room head-on as soon as his set started, according to the Hollywood Reporter.

“Who the fuck wants to follow that?” Davidson asked when he took the stage after Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers co-founder Benmont Tench's rendition of "American Girl." “Am I not going through enough that I have to fucking follow that?”

"Well, as you can tell, I don’t want to be here. There’s a lot going on," Davidson continued. "Anybody have any open rooms? Anybody looking for a roommate?"

Davidson also alluded to the tattoos he got for Ariana. The two got a number of matching tattoos during their brief engagement, while Davidson got a tiny bunny mask inked behind his ear, a reference to the Dangerous Woman album cover.

"I’ve been covering a bunch of tattoos, that’s fun. I’m fucking 0-for-2 in the tattoo department. Yeah, I’m afraid to get my mom tattooed on me because she’d leave," he said to the small crowd of just under 300 attendees.

In addition to Apatow and Davidson, the two-and-half hour event also featured comedians Pete Holmes and Tig Notaro. Davidson had a weekend off from SNL, which returns with a new, Jonah Hill-starring episode on Nov. 3.
