Since the success of Insecure, Issa Rae has been busy. Unfortunately, this means fans are going to have to wait a little while longer for season 4.

In a new interview with Vulture, HBO's programming chief Casey Bloys said that Insecure will not return with new episodes until 2020. HBO understands that the show's main character and creator is catching a lot of bags outside of the network and they don't want to impede on her hustle.

"Issa became a big movie star," Bloys explained to Vulture's Josef Adalian. "We’re not the first place to deal with this, but when you’re in business with very creative and talented people, there’s a lot more opportunities for people to do things."

Bloys assured viewers Rae's busy schedule has not led HBO to shelve Insecure permanently, but they know that Rae will need a break before committing herself to the series. Bloys thinks this brief departure will allow award shows to give Insecure the recognition it reserves.

"It wasn’t exactly random that we ended up [scheduling the show] in the spring, right before Emmys," Bloys said. "So that the show should get the Emmy love that it has deserved."

Insecure isn't the only HBO staple to go on hiatus. Larry David's Curb Your Enthusiasm will also return to a post-Game of Thrones HBO in 2020.
