Beyoncé's Beychella performance was the stuff of legend and the Homecoming documentary that covered it also generated plenty of fervor. But the Television Academy wasn't as moved: Her Netflix movie was snubbed at this year's Creative Arts Emmy Awards.

Beyoncé was up for six awards including Outstanding Variety Special (pre-recorded); Outstanding Costumes for Variety, Non-Fiction or Reality Programming; Outstanding Directing for a Variety Special; Outstanding Music Direction; Outstanding Production Design for a Variety Special; and Outstanding Writing for a Variety Special. With her name in so many pots, it was surprising that Bey went home empty-handed.

Fans and critics thought she would at least take home the trophy for Outstanding Variety Special, but she lost this category to James Cordon’s Carpool Karaoke: When Corden Met McCartney Live From Liverpool. This was disrespectful in the eyes of many.

This isn't the first time the Emmys have snubbed Beyoncé. Her 2016 album, Lemonade, was accompanied by a 65-minute movie that also received massive critical acclaim. Lemonade's HBO exclusive film generated the singer two Emmy nominations, but didn't win either. The fact that one of the greatest entertainers in history has gone 0 for 8 at the Emmys has led some to believe that the Television Academy has a racial bias against Beyoncé.
