Dr. Fauci has so much buzz right now, he could drop a mixtape. The director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases has become a household name during the coronavirus pandemic since he's been providing the latest information on how to flatten the curve. His popularity almost guarantees him a comedic characterization on Saturday Night Live, and Dr. Fauci plans on taking full advantage of his 15 minutes of fame.

During a conversation with CNN, the doctor was asked who he would like to play him if he's depicted in any upcoming episodes of SNL.

"Oh, Brad Pitt of course," the physician joked.

After nearly a month off, SNL returns this Saturday. The show has a history of addressing social issues during its cold open, and right now, there's no bigger topic than the coronavirus pandemic.

Outside of touching on his potential SNL portrayal, Dr. Fauci did explain that Americans are now at the mercy of the coronavirus. The days in self-isolation has citizens itching to know when they can return to their normal lives. However, Fauci tells CNN that there is no clear timetable on when regular life can resume.

"The virus kind of decides whether it’s favorable to open or not. I would want to see us clearly and strongly going in the right direction," he said. Fauci then went on to say that the upcoming holidays are the worst time to dial back on social distancing, stating: "Even though we’re in a holiday season, now is no time to back of."

The coronavirus continues to take hold in the United States. As of Saturday, John Hopkins reported that America now passed Italy as the country with the most coronavirus related deaths. The U.S. also has more than half a million confirmed coronavirus cases.
