Captain Marvel continues to dominate the box office with the superhero origin story grossing more than $900 million in worldwide ticket sales.

The Brie Larson-starring film brought in close to $87 million, including $52 million from international markets, according to Variety. That ups the movie's overseas profits to $589 million, giving the film a grand total of $910 million earned both domestically and globally.

Captain Marvel is now the tenth-biggest comic book release of all time, surpassing Spider-Man: Homecoming ($880 million), Venom ($855 million), and Thor: Ragnarok ($854 million).

It hasn't been all good press for Captain Marvel. Upon its premiere, Roy Thomas, co-creator of the Carol Danvers, complained about the way Danvers and the Skrulls were portrayed in the film.

"The one thing I really hated in the film was turning the Skrulls into a peace-loving race, with the Kree as the heavies," Thomas told BleedingCool. "As far as I’m concerned as the principal conceptualizer of the Kree/Skrull War (and I suspect Stan Lee and Jack Kirby would’ve agreed with me), the Skrulls and the Kree are each as bad as each other, as they say. Having the Skrulls all mushy and family-friendly at the end left a bad taste in my mouth."

Captain Marvel is set to take on Thanos in Avengers: Endgame, which comes out April 26.
