X-Men: Days of Future Past featured Quicksilver's ascension in the Marvel franchise. He didn't appear in the movie long, but the superhero — who runs at the speed of sound — wowed audiences. So, Quicksilver, played by actor Evan Peters, will definitely have a bigger role in the new X-Men: Apocalypse flick.
Quicksilver will evolve a bit in X-Men: Apocalypse, as we see the mutants warding off Apocalypse, who is billed as the first mutant. As the 5,000-year-old mutant wages war on the X-Men and the world, audiences will get a chance to see Quicksilver's maturation.
"He's kind of matured a bit," Peters told Collider. "He's gotten into music a little bit. Cleaned it up a little bit. He's not quite the klepto that he was when you first saw him. He's kind of chilled out a little bit with that."
Seeing Quicksilver in this new movie will be strange for those who've seen Avengers: Age of Ultron. Magneto’s alleged son, who wasn't played by Peters, died in that movie.
The American Horror Story: Coven star has no idea how Marvel plans to reintroduce Quicksilver, but he has some suggestions.
"They could always bring him back to life somehow or there could be another studio that starts making superhero films and throw Quicksilver in there," Peters said. "I was really confused as to why they killed him. I thought it was really cool. It was a different take on the character, completely different. Scarlet Witch was there and yeah. I was kind of bummed that they killed him."
This lack of continuity is one of the issues with the Marvel franchises, as Complex noted in May 2014. Seeing different actors play the same character with different origin stories confuses viewers, according to writer Nick Schager.
While the death of Quicksilver in Avengers: Age of Ultron is a concern, the resurrected mutant will have some continuity. He will continue being thorny toward his fellow mutants, including Wolverine.
"He is kind of still this outsider," Peters said. "He’s kind of interacting with them all based on the circumstances."
X-Men: Apocalypse hits theaters on May 27.
