Back in January we dubbed Jeremy Saulnier's thriller Green Room one of the 30 most anticipated movies of the year. The first trailer we saw—an unnerving sneak peak at a punk band versus some nefarious white supremacists—adequately scared us and confirmed that this upcoming film deserves the hype, especially in terms of Patrick Stewart'sbone-chilling character. Now a new trailer for Green Room is available, red-banded for your viewing pleasure—or perhaps dismay.
Green Room stars Alia Shawkat and Anton Yelchin as members of a punk band The Ain't Rights who witness a murder at one of their shows at a skinhead venue. Shawkat and Yelchin and the murdered girl's friend (Imogen Poots) are sent to the venue's green room while the club runners supposedly call the cops, but the three eventually become trapped inside and the victims of unthinkable violence. Stewart plays the seething and horrifying club owner who puts the cherry on top of this Neo-Nazi nightmare. Here's the full synopsis of the movie, courtesy ofScreen Crush:
As if the first trailer we saw for Green Room wasn't blood-curdling enough, the new red band trailer will have you cowering in the corner after its run time that clocks in at just under two terrifying minutes. The new footage provides some highly explicit glimpses into Green Room's violence, including the cracking of limbs and the hair-raising sound of a knife being yanked out of the murder victim's head.
The trailer may be punctuated by gore and violence, but the movie's appeal seems to lie in its performances—namely Stewart's highly unsettling portrayal of the club owner—and its ability to create extreme suspense and intensity.
Green Room comes out in select theaters on April 15 and nationwide on April 29.
