We just found out that Zack Snyder plans to make his next two-part film Justice League a fair amount brighter than his dark Batman v Supermanwhich is currently sweeping the box office even though it got pretty poor reviews across the board. Director James Wan—who will direct the forthcoming The Conjuring 2 —also has some plans to brighten the DC Universe in the upcoming Aquaman. According to an article on Screen Crush, Wan wants audiences to know that Aquaman is going to be a lot of fun.

In an interview with IGN Wan detailed his penchant for fun that he wants to transfer over to Aquaman. "The kind of filmmaker that I am…even my darker horror films generally are still very fun and I think that’s important for me and the kind of films I make. Aquaman is a character that a lot of people have made fun of over the years and I just think it’s fun to actually show a really different, cool, badass side to this character, but at the same time, let’s not forget to have fun with it," he said.

Wan is known for his direction of horror movies like Saw and The Conjuring, so it should be interesting to see how he goes about emphasizing the fun parts of Aquaman's world. Aquaman stars Jason Momoa and comes out July 27, 2018.
