On Sunday, the stars were out for the 75th annual Golden Globes Awards. With this many celebrities concentrated in Beverly Hills, there was bound to be some fun after parties to hit up after the show ended.
Issa Rae, who was nominated for Best Actress in a Musical or Comedy TV series for Insecure, attended a party where Drake was DJing. She was extremely excited to see Drizzy behind the wheels, saying “Zaddy” while recording him spinning Wizkid’s “Daddy Yo.”
In another clip, Rae looks like she had a wonderful time, emphasizing that his playlist was “simply correct.”
Rae is a well-known fan of Drake, so to watch her lose it to his DJ set makes us pretty happy. She revealed in a 2016 Rolling Stone interview that she referenced Drake’s songs into the soundtrack and dialogue in season 1 of Insecure—both directly and indirectly.
"We have a Drake lyric in every episode as an Easter egg," she said. "That was a personal thing for me, but that's not something that we bang you over the head with."
Songs like “Fancy,” “Thank Me Later,” and “Back to Back” have made their way into the show. After seeing Drake DJ, maybe it'll inspire her to use more of his lyrics in the upcoming third season. We can only hope!
