Serena Williams is showing off her slim physique after using a GLP-1 medication to improve her health. On Sunday, Feb. 1, the former tennis star, 44, took to Instagram to share some pictures of herself wearing a skirt suit and a fitted white tank top.
“That good-good… day,” Williams captured her post, including three snaps.
The post comes on the heels of Williams posting an ad for GLP-1. The mother-of-two said that she’s lost 34 pounds in a year. She also said that she’s experienced other health benefits that she wanted to share with her 18 million Instagram followers.
“I never thought I’d be sharing this on camera,” Williams said in an Instagram video, before sharing her lab results. “Some of my health stats are even better than when I was playing tennis.”
“Since being on GLP-1, my lifetime risk of cardiovascular disease has decreased by 19%,” she continued, adding that her total cholesterol levels have improved by 30%.
Williams recently discussed these health improvements in an interview with People magazine.
“I feel healthier. I feel lighter. I feel great. It's a really good feeling. Something I've seen improvement on recently were just my numbers … huge improvements,” she told the outlet in an interview published on January 28.
Despite the controversy surrounding Williams’ decision to use a GLP-1, she told People that she wants to break the stigma.
“I just wanted to naturally share my story and tell everyone that it's not a shortcut. It had such a stigma and I wanted to be a part of breaking that down,” she said, adding, “I was at the fair the other day and this random guy came up to me and was like, ‘I started GLP-1s because of you.’ And so I love the impact it's making, not only with women but with men as well.”
