Pitch Perfect star Anna Camp is defending her 18-year age gap with girlfriend, Jade Whipkey. The couple made their red carpet at the Los Angeles premiere of Bride Hard, which stars Camp and her Pitch Perfect co-star, Rebel Wilson.
On June 20, Pink News shared a video clip of the new couple on the red carpet, noting that Camp is 42 and Whipkey is 24. After numerous critical messages popped up on the post, Camp took to the comments section to defend her romance.
"Thought I’d jump on here since I follow @pinknews and just say I’ve dated men exactly my age and Jade is FAR more mature than any of them," she began.
"We have more in common than anyone else I’ve ever dated and can literally talk about anything and everything. Everyone is entitled to their opinion, and I’m wishing everyone well :) Especially this Pride month," she added.
The comment has received more than 18,000 likes and hundreds of supportive responses have amassed.
"Love this for you," one person wrote.
"I never understood the age argument. Its about maturity. Enjoy," someone else said.
"The love emitting from this comment. I CAN'T," a third comment read.
Camp, who was previously married to Pitch Perfect co-star Skylar Astin, came out as queer in February.
"It's been really wonderful to be so welcomed and so supported, especially by my really beautiful [and] wonderful friend here. Life is an evolution and I'm very happy where I am today," she said in an interview with Pride.
