Before it announced the iPhone 5 and the new range of iPods, Apple was once again getting busy in the courtroom. The company has filed a complaint with the Polish patent office against online supermarket A.pl due to similarities in the company's name.
Polish Patent office spokesman Adam Taukert explained Apple's reasoning behind the suit:
"Apple's brand is widely recognized and the company says that A.pl, by using the name that sounds similar, is using Apple's reputation."
Compared to Apple's recent legal foe, Samsung, A.pl is a much smaller company and would not be able to handle a drawn out suit. This case will more than likely be settled outside of court. Additionally, Apple wants fresh24.pl, a company owned by A.pl to change their logo (photo #2) due to the similarities. A.pl chief executive Radoslaw Celinski commented on the Apple lawsuit, saying, "The accusation is ludicrous."
