The Beatles continue to be held as one of the greatest bands of all-time, but there has yet to be a definitive movie made about their time as a global sensation. Ron Howard is setting out to change all that, and with the full authorization and cooperation of Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr, Yoko Ono Lennon, and Olivia Harrison will be directing a documentary about the Fab Four’s years on tour.
Howard said in a statement:
Howard is no stranger to the music documentary world, having just finished working with Jay-Z on Made in America. The Beatles doc will begin with their days in Liverpool and culminate with their final public concert, which took place in San Francisco in 1966.
No word on the timing of the release, or whether this classic scene from Walk Hard will be recreated:
