First 'Training Day' TV Trailer Is Flush With Dirty Cops and Bazooka Shootouts

The Training Day TV series, based on Antoine Fuqua's film starring Denzel Washington and Ethan Hawke, has released its first trailer. The series was picked up for a pilot in February, a pilot that was supposed to be directed by Fuqua himself before he had to drop out due to a scheduling conflict.

The OG film saw a rookie white cop, played by Ethan Hawke, on his training day with a black veteran detective, played by Denzel Washington, who doesn't go by the book. The series picks up 15 years later with a role reversal:

"Based on the hit feature film, this crime thriller begins 15 years later when an idealistic young police officer is appointed to an elite squad of the LAPD and he is partnered with a seasoned yet morally ambiguous detective."

Bill Paxton will play the white detective and Justin Cornwell the black LAPD officer. Audiences are introduced to the former in the trailer when he says, "As a great philosopher once said, 'Mo' money, mo' problems'" as he picks up a bag full of money belonging to presumed criminals.

Kyle Craig (Cornwell) quickly learns it won't be his average training day when Frank Rourke (Paxton) tells him it's going to be a "trial by fire." He means literal fire. The trailer features a car getting blasted by a bazooka during a shootout, in addition to two other separate shootouts. For good measure, ya know?

Just when you thought Rourke couldn’t top his Mo’ money line he says, "Calling me a dirty cop, that's like calling Santa Claus a burglar."
