At the top of the year, it felt unreal when Rihanna and ASAP Rocky announced that they were expecting a bundle of joy with a photo shoot in Harlem, New York. The singer glowed in a pink puffer jacket that was partially zipped, showcasing her bare baby bump. Rocky smiled from ear to ear in the photos, embracing his girlfriend and their newfound chapter.
Rihanna and Rocky’s love story is one for the books. They started as friends in 2012 and took their relationship to the next level in 2021. At the time, Rocky called Rihanna “the one” in an interview with GQ. Since welcoming their baby boy in May, the two have shared little details about their son. For Rocky’s part, he told Complex that his whole life has changed. “I love it. Everything is just based around my newfound love for being a dad and a family man,” he said.
As for the “Work” singer, she’s obsessed with their son’s personality. “He's amazing. It's a real cuddly stage right now,” she told PEOPLE in November. While the couple has remained tight-lipped about their infant’s name, they did give fans a glimpse of his adorable face in December, nearly seven months after welcoming him.

In March 2020, the “Work” singer spoke with Vogue UK about her plans to expand her family. At the time, Rihanna explained that she wanted “three or four” kids. She added that she would make her dream a reality, with or without a partner. “I feel like society makes me want to feel like, ‘Oh, you got it wrong…’ They diminish you as a mother if there’s not a dad in your kids’ lives,” she said. “But the only thing that matters is happiness, that’s the only healthy relationship between a parent and a child. That’s the only thing that can raise a child truly, is love.”
After welcoming their baby boy in 2022, a source told Us Weekly that RiRi plans to keep that dream alive. “They want a big family for sure. Rihanna loved being pregnant and fully embraced her pregnancy body,” the insider dished.

However, fans speculated that their baby boy might arrive in May after RiRi was spotted wearing a charm bracelet that featured a May birthstone.

In May, it was reported by Us Weekly that Rihanna and Rocky only shared the name of their son with close family members. “They are keeping it a secret until they’re ready to share it with the world,” the source said at the time. “Rihanna wants her Barbados heritage honored when she names her child, [as well as] A$AP’s roots. They want both of their cultures included. It is very important to them to keep where they are from passed down to their child.”
As fans may recall, Rihanna was seen rocking a D necklace in October, possibly hinting at her son’s name. There still aren’t any updates on the name at the time of writing.
