You typically need to know someone pretty well to receive a kidney from them, and even then, there are no guarantees.

In 2015, actress Selena Gomez announced she was diagnosed with lupus and had received chemotherapy treatment.

However, that wasn't the only medical procedure she needed. Last September, Gomez revealed in an Instagram post that Grown-ish actress Francia Raisa had donated a kidney to her.

While Raisa is now back and ready for action, it took her quite a few weeks to recover from the kidney transplant. In fact, according to People, the recovery period took two months. Back in September, she posted a video on Instagram of her lifting weights, assuring her fans that she was "happy to be back."

As such an active and athletic person, she was frustrated to be bedridden for so long while her Hollywood best friend quickly bounced back. However, according to Raisa's mother, Virginia Almendarez during a Telemundo interview, the whole situation helped bring the two women closer together.

Additionally, the former Disney child star has also been recently outspoken about mental health. On top of lupus, Gomez struggles with anxiety and depression.
