Intro

Last Wednesday, Facebook held a press conference where it announced it would allow developers to use "Open Graph" to create apps for its new Timeline interface. As it's still new and developers are still in the sign-up process to gain access, there are only about 60 apps currently available for use. These apps will allow your friends to interfact with your profile in a lot of different ways—they'll be able to listen to what you're listening to, read what you read, and even drink what you recommend they drink. If that sounds good keep reading to peep the 10 Facebook Timeline apps you should try.

Where I've Been

Where I've Been

Stunt on all your Facebook by sharing the spots around the globe you've been fortunate to visit. Already a popular Facebook application, Where I've Been allows you to build a custom map and share images from your travels. You can also share digital postcards you've sent your friends from your trips.

Pinterest

Pinterest

Pinterest has been taking off as of late. The idea is simple: As you browse the Net, you can clip images that you like to a digital cork board that you can share with other Pinterest users. I hear you asking: Isn't that what Tumblr's for? Yeah, sort of, but Pinterest takes the blogging aspect out of the equation and focuses on making it easy for you to share your images.

When combined with your Facebook, Pinterest will turn a section of your Timline into a cork board that displays any and all cool images you ran across while browsing the Web. If your friends dig it, they can leave comments and pin their own photos. Just make sure they're SFW. You know your Mom is peeping your profile.

Turntable.fm

Turntable.fm

The folks at Turntable.fm believe "music is better with friends." We agree. And where are most of your friends? That's right Twitter Facebook! Iinvite your FB friends to a digital party where you're the DJ. The Timeline App will display what music you're playing and allow your buddies to join in. If you've never used Turntable.fm, we suggest you give it a shot. It's slightly addictive.

Causes

Causes

The brainchild of former Facebook president Sean Parker, Causes allows FB users to either create or join a cause—a charity, political party, etc—and keeps everyone in the loop about how that particular cause is going. When you join or create a cause the information will appear in your timeline along with the ability for others to join. If you want to promote some good with your Facebook profile, this is the way to go.

Foodspotting

Foodspotting

Everyone loves food porn. You do, I do, even your boss does. Share your own edible masterpieces with Foodspotting—an Timeline app that will show off images of your favorite meals within your Timeline. It's better than flooding your friend's Instagram. Trust us.

Snooth

Snooth

You don't know nearly as much about wine as you think you do. But don't worry, Snooth is here to help. A website dedicated to helping dudes like yourself find the perfect wine for any situation, Snooth puts a spin on Tunrtable.fm's mantra: "Wine is better with friends." So share with your friends what wine you're sipping on and which ones you've uncorked in the past.

Airbnb

Airbnb

The service Ashton Kutcher took a stake in makes couch surfing much safer and attractive. Looking to head to L.A. but need a nice, unique place to crash that won't wreck your pockets? Give Airbnb a shot. The Facebook Timeline app will allow to share places you've stayed as well as let you browse for new locations. If you're looking to advertise your place, you can do so, too, using the Airbnb app.

Spotify

Spotify

You should know all about Spotify by now. You should also know how much better the streaming music service is when you login with your Facebook ID. With the Spotify Timeline app, friends can see what you're listening to and listen along with you. Now's the time to come to terms with all your guilty pleasures.

Goodreads

Goodreads

Goodreads, a social network devoted to all things books, is smart for developing a Facebook Timeline app. For one, most of its users are already on Facebook, and secondly, anything that can be done to promote reading is fine by us. The Goodreads Timeline app will allow you to display what books you're reading and what books you liked. We won't say anything when Suzanne Collins shows up under your "most read authors list."

Chegg

Chegg

We remember when Facebook used to be a social network for kids in college who wanted to share what courses they were taking, who was cute in said course, and what they thought of the latest Nas album. Most of that's now changed. However, Chegg lets you keep track of what your friends are taking and what books their using so you can easily buy or swap textbooks. If you're currently in college, Chegg is a must.
