A new Scooby-Doo anime is making its way to Tubi — with Matthew Lillard and Frank Welker set to return as Shaggy and Scooby-Doo, respectively.

Tubi has ordered Yokoso Scooby-Doo!, the first original anime series built around the Scooby-Doo franchise, with Warner Bros. Animation set to produce it, Variety reports.

Both Welker and Lillard will star in the series where Scooby-Doo and Shaggy head to Japan for the “ultimate foodie adventure,” according to the show’s official logline, and “unwittingly unleash hundreds of mythical monsters that are causing trouble across the country.”

Though it seems like the rest of the Mystery Gang made up of Fred, Daphne, and Velma won’t appear, Scooby-Doo and Shaggy will team up with Scooby's uncle Daisuke-Doo, a magical girl named Yume, and a gadget expert named Takumi to quell the monster threat.

Itsuro Kawasaki is directing the series, with Francisco Paredes serving as co-producer.

“Scooby-Doo is one of the most beloved franchises in entertainment, and ‘Yokoso Scooby-Doo!’ lets us reinvent it in a way fans haven’t seen before,” said Tubi chief content officer Adam Lewinson in a statement.

“By bringing Scooby and Shaggy into a bold anime world set in Japan, we’re connecting with global fandoms and delivering the kind of fun, chaotic mystery that travels across generations,” he added. “As we grow our animation slate, this is exactly our brand of fan-first storytelling—familiar, surprising, and unmistakably Tubi.”

Warner Bros. Animation president Sam Register also released a statement about the upcoming show.

“We’re excited to partner on this next chapter as we push the Scooby-Doo franchise forward with its first-ever original anime series,” he said. “Alongside the amazing artists at OLM, we’ll unmask a new batch of mysteries, signature hijinks, and – of course – plenty of Scooby Snacks, all brought to life through the dynamic artistry of anime.”

Welker has been a part of the Scooby-Doo franchise since its inception in 1969, when he played Fred Jones in Scooby-Doo Where Are You!. He’s been playing the voice of Scooby-Doo for more than two decades.

Lillard has played Shaggy in all of the live-action Scooby-Doo films. Since then, he’s voiced the character in various animated series.
