Style is personal. It’s how you tell the world who you are without uttering a single word. Style can also blossom later in life. Many people think either you have it or you don’t, and sometimes, it just hasn’t shown up yet.
For soccer star Jordyn Huitema, her style didn’t develop until well after high school. In fact, it took moving overseas—Paris, no less— before she even began to think about fashion. In middle school, she wore a uniform, and then in high school, while perfecting her techniques on the field, she grew accustomed to wearing her soccer uniforms off the field.
Those days are behind her. Jordyn pulled up to Vivant Vintage Clothing in Boston for the latest episode of Chime’s Ball on A Budget, where host Ashley Nicole Moss tasked the striker with creating a fit for a team holiday dinner that’s below $300.
Jordyn’s strategy was efficient. She didn’t look for a top or bottom, but wanted to find a piece that she gravitated to and would craft the look around that. While browsing through racks of leather jackets, she found a sick one for $85. She spoke about some of the financial decisions she’s made so far as a professional soccer player, chief of which was hiring a good financial adviser.
