There are few pieces of personal technology you can be sure every celebrity has on them at all times. One of them is an iPod, another is a BlackBerry or iPhone. Now, you can addBeats by Dr. Dre headphones to the list.
Built by Monster Cable and developed in conjunction with Dr. Dre and Interscope head honcho Jimmy Iovine in 2008, the Beats by Dr. Dre line was made to deliver studio-quality sound to the masses. And it's been a success. You can't walk the streets of NYC or watch a music video without seeing the iconic over-the-ear headphones. Everyone from skateboarders to our Commander-in-Chief have gotten themselves a pair—you can see a bunch of them on Beats by Dr. Dre's Facebook page. A select few celebs have even been lucky enough to get a customized pair made. Some are hot, some are not so hot. These are the 10 Best Custom Celebrity Beats by Dr. Dre headphones we've seen. Rock on.
10. Mike Posner
You know Mike Posner's got a couple of Billboard-charting singles, but did you know the J. Records singee graduated from Duke University with a 3.59 GPA? To pay homage to his alma mater, Posner had his headphones done up in Duke blue with the Blue Devil mascot printed all over.
9. Mindless Behavior
We're not sure why the newest boy band to take over 106th & Park decided to go with a pink and green colorway for their custom Beats by Dr. Dre. Maybe the members of Mindless Behavior are sweet on some AKAs? Either way, their pair is dope.
8. Diggy Simmons
The only child of Rev Run with any musical talent comes through with this simple, but striking custom pair of all-read Beats.
7. Shaun White
The custom Beats you saw the Olympic Gold Medalist rocking during the 2010 X-Games weren't really customized for him. The X-Games Headphone was made by Beats and given to the competitors of the Winter X-Games on the commencement night.
6. Drake
To remind people of what his name stands for, Young Angel had his custom pair of Beats marked with the words: Do Right And Kill Everything.
5. J. Cole
When it came time for Roc Nation's first signee to work on his pair, he decided to rock with his state colors: Carolina Blue and white.
4. Lil Wayne
We're not surprised The YMCMB boss blooded out his pair of Beats. Nor are we surprised that he repped his 'hood by having "504" etched on the side. But we are surprised that out of all his nicknames, he had his most mysterious one slapped on the side. Remember, don't as him how he got it.
3. Spike Lee
It's a shame Spike may not be able to rock these New York Knicks headphones to the Garden this season because, well, there may not be a season.
2. Kobe Bryant
Sure, he didn't make the playoffs last season, and since there may not be a season this year, he may not make it again. But Kobe can rest assured knowing he has the sickest pair of Beats by Dr. Dre headphones in the NBA. In addition to his pair done up in Lakers colors, he had these all-black beauties made with fake snake skin uppers. So. Sick.
1. The Obamas
Yes, the First Family has their own pair of Beats by Dr. Dre headphones. They're cool like that. Dubbed the Obama's Family headphone, the headphone resembles a regular all-black pair until you peep the inscription. Barack had the lyrics to Stevie Wonder's "You & I", the first song he and Michelle danced to at their wedding, inscribed on the inside of the headphone.
