Vince Vaughn was seen chatting with Donald Trump and Melania Trump in box seats during the College Football Playoff National Championship game in New Orleans.
The moment has now gone viral on social media.
When the two separated to watch the championship playoff—which the LSU Tigers won—they shook hands and Vaughn waved to those next to Trump. A Vaughn representative told People that the two men didn’t go to the game together, adding that the pair “met this evening at the game briefly.”
Washington Examiner commentator Tiana Lowe tweeted that Vaughn “publicly identified as a Republican since he and Jennifer Aniston were an item. This is news if you’ve been living under a rock for a decade and a half.”
According to The Hill, Vaughn supported Sen. Rand Paul against Trump in the 2016 primary. In 2008 and 2012, he backed Paul’s father, former Republican Rep. Ron Paul in the GOP primaries.
In 2015, when speaking to GQ Magazine about gun rights, Vaughn said he supports people being allowed to carry a gun in public “full stop.” He added, “We don't have the right to bear arms because of burglars; we have the right to bear arms to resist the supreme power of a corrupt and abusive government. It's not about duck hunting; it's about the ability of the individual.”
