Tyrese Gibson came out of social media retirement to unleash an almost hour-long missive about everything from his divorce to his mother and his recent album, Beautiful Pain.

In the 55-minute rant, which he recorded in his home, he shared details about his ex-wife Samantha Lee leaving him in August 2020.

“These are the stairs that I got married on before my ex-wife left me,” he said at around the 3:10 minute mark. “And this is the same house that I got the news while living in, that not only did she leave me but I got married on these stairs. She packed up all 50 boxes right here in the foyer with six or seven of her friends and she covered up the Ring camera with a Covid mask at the time. This was August 2020 and she left me and she never came back. Cry me a river, right?”

“Then, all of a sudden, I’m now in the studio, to work on an album that I never wanted to work on, to sing about a relationship that I thought would never come to an end,” he continued. “And now, my song ‘Wildflower’ is No. 1 on Billboard.”

The singer and actor released Beautiful Pain in August, which included the song “Wildflower,” a tribute to his mother who passed away in February 2022 from COVID-19 and pneumonia. The track has now peaked at No. 1 on Billboard's Adult R&B Airplay chart.

Gibson’s divorce from Lee has been contentious; in September, he was detained due to unpaid child support payments. The former couple, who finalized their divorce in 2020, share 6-year-old daughter, Soraya. He also shares a 17-year-old daughter Shayla with ex-wife Norma.
