Lenny Kravitz and Tisha Campbell go way back.
Campbell recently stopped by Sherri, where the entertainer and host Sherri Shepherd briefly discussed Campbell’s dating history.
“I didn't know that you once dated Lenny Kravitz,” Shepherd told Campbell.
“We were kids. We were like teenagers when we dated,” Tisha responded. “Literal teenagers. 16-year-olds.”
“This is why I don't tell people,” she said, referring to the audience’s surprised reaction. “I had street cred before y'all found that out. Don't play me.”
Shepherd's show isn’t the first time Campbell has shared this story. In 2023, during a conversation with Jennifer Hudson, Campbell shared that Kravitz was her “first” boyfriend.
Kravitz also confirmed their relationship in his October 2020 memoir Let Love Rule, revealing that he met Campbell during an audition for a play. “Tisha had these hazel eyes I couldn’t stop staring at,” he wrote. “She also had the most beautiful singing voice and the sweetest personality.”
Campbell recently commented on her early dating experiences, describing herself as “shy.” She was previously married to actor Duane Martin from 1996 to 2020.
"I've only like had boyfriends and then went straight into marriage. I never went on a proper date," Campbell told 99.7 NOW. "No one's ever asked me on a date to go eat dinner. I never had that."
Campbell then joked that one of her friends told her she isn't "marriage material."
"And I said, 'Why? I've been married before.' She was like, 'Nah, everybody just want to date Gina,'" Campbell explained, referring to her Martin character, Gina. "'It's not marriage right now. The position that you're in, people just want to date Gina.' They don't want to get to know me for me."
