The Simpsons continues to be prophetic.

On Sunday, show screenwriter Al Jean took to X to applaud the animated series for another “prediction” well done.

“@TheSimpsons ‘prediction’ I’m proud to be a part of,” he wrote, alongside side-by-side photos of Lisa Simpson becoming president while wearing a purple suit and pearls in the episode “Bart to the Future”—and Kamala Harris wearing pretty much the same thing when she was inaugurated as vice president in January 2021.

Jean issued the tweet after Joe Biden ended his bid for the 2024 presidency. Harris has since been named his successor and will be going up against Donald Trump in November.

According to CBS News, “Bart to the Future” happens in the year 2030—and another uncanny detail is that Lisa assumes the presidency from Trump, with the episode also foreseeing him as America's commander in chief.

The Simpsons has a knack for being revelatory. Back in 2012, the show foretold Lady Gaga’s 2017 Super Bowl halftime show, and, in 2017, also foretold the ending of Game of Thrones, two years before the show’s final season. The Simpsons has also predicted technological advancements like video calls and virtual reality glasses—and worldwide disasters like a pandemic.
