Watch the New Trailer for New 'Saw' Movie 'Spiral' With Chris Rock and Samuel L. Jackson

Chris Rock's upcoming reboot 'Spiral: From the Book of Saw' has received a new trailer featuring Samuel L. Jackson, Max Minghella, Marisol Nichols, and more.

Chris Rock’s reboot of the Saw franchise has received a new trailer featuring Samuel L. Jackson.

Spiral: From the Book of Saw is the ninth installation in the series, a reimagining that came from Rock himself, which takes the Saw films away from horror and toward more of a serial killer–centric thriller. Max Minghella, Marisol Nichols, and Zoie Palmer also star in the Darren Lynn Bousman-helmed project. Bousman is a Saw pro, previously helming 2005’s Saw II—which he wrote and directed—and subsequent films Saw III and Saw IV.

Lionsgate describes Spiral as “the terrifying new chapter of the book of Saw,” where “a sadistic mastermind unleashes a twisted form of justice.” Per IndieWire, the official synopsis continues, “Working in the shadow of an esteemed police veteran (Jackson), brash detective Ezekiel ‘Zeke’ Banks (Rock) and his rookie partner (Minghella) take charge of a grisly investigation into murders that are eerily reminiscent of the city’s gruesome past. Unwittingly entrapped in a deepening mystery, Zeke finds himself at the center of the killer’s morbid game.”

The first Saw debuted in 2004 and was directed by James Wan. After that, a new entry arrived every year through 2010, before the franchise took a seven-year break and marked its comeback with 2017’s Jigsaw. Spiral was initially supposed to release on Oct. 23, 2020 but was pushed up to May 15, 2020 to be included in the summer movie slate. Due to the pandemic, the film will now arrive on May 14, 2021.
