‘Real Housewives of Salt Lake City’ Star Jennie Nguyen Fired After Racially Insensitive BLM Posts Resurface

Jennie Nguyen, a cast member of 'The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City' has been fired after controversial social media posts about BLM from 2020 resurfaced

Bravo TV has fired Jennie Nguyen, one of the cast members from The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City, for making racist posts on social media.

The network issued a statement via Twitter about the situation on Tuesday, writing, “Bravo has ceased filming with Jennie Nguyen and she will no longer be a cast member on The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City.”

The statement continued, “We recognize we failed to take appropriate action once her offensive social media posts were brought to our attention. Moving forward, we will work to improve our processes to ensure we make better informed and more thoughtful casting decisions.”

The social media posts resurfaced last week, which were from 2020 and showed Nguyen posting memes on Facebook that ridiculed the Black Lives Matter movement, containing phrases like “Violent Gangs,” “White Lives Matter,” and “BLM Thugs.”

While Nguyen hasn’t yet addressed her firing, she did respond to the initial discovery of the old posts and apologized on Instagram. “I thought I was speaking out against violence,” she wrote, saying that she has “since learned how offensive and hurtful [her] words were.”

Andy Cohen—who’s an executive producer on the show—also responded to the situation, saying on his Radio Andy show that he thought the posts were “upsetting” and “disgusting.” He also said that there are “many serious discussions happening right now about everything.”
