Pete Davidson has long struggled with substance abuse issues.
His drug dependence intensified during his rise to stardom, which, in turn, impacted his memory.
“I was such a drug addict. I don't remember what I was like or what the time was like,” he said on Wednesday, during a live taping of Netflix’s The Pete Davidson Show, per People.
Davidson’s guest, Sam Morril, then asked what drugs Davidson took. The 32-year-old explained that he smoked weed “all the time,” regardless of whether it was good for him. He also shared that while he wasn’t a big drinker, he did take pills, acid, and ketamine when he started appearing on TV, in order to quell his anxiety.
Davidson had been trying to get clean for years. In 2023, he went to rehab after struggling with post-traumatic stress disorder and borderline personality disorder. He also previously confirmed 2016 and 2020 stints in rehab for his substance issues, telling Howard Stern, “there was no way [he] could stop” using drugs.
Davidson’s sobriety is also tied to his very costly and extremely headline-worthy tattoo removal process.
“I got all my tattoos in a span of, like, two years, and I was just looking at myself in the mirror once in rehab…for the first time when I was sober, and I was just like, ‘Oh no.’ Like, 'What did I do?'" he told The Breakfast Club last August.
Davidson, who at one time had around 200 tattoos and sported sleeves on both arms, claimed that the removal cost him at least $200,000.
