Kanye's Request for Drake to Narrate 'jeen-yuhs' Netflix Doc Gets Reaction From Toronto Rapper

According to a recent text conversation that Kanye shared then deleted on Instagram, he wants Drake to narrate the upcoming Netflix doc about his life.

It seems any lingering tension between Kanye West and Drake is indeed long gone.

In a now-deleted Instagram post, Kanye shared that he wants the Toronto native to narrate his forthcoming jeen-yuhs Netflix documentary. “I need Drake to do the narration,” he wrote in a text message screen grab to a contact under the letter “C,” which could presumably be either co-director Chike Ozah or Coodie Simmons.

While neither Chike nor Coodie re-shared Yeezy’s post, it was in fact liked by Drake himself.

The first act of the trilogy hits select theaters on February 10 for one night only, and will be released via Netflix on February 16, with the other two acts coming across the following three weeks.

In a now-deleted IG post dated Jan. 21, Ye demanded full approval over the doc. “I’m going to say this kindly for the last time,” Ye wrote. “I must get final edit and approval on this doc before it releases on Netflix. Open the edit room immediately so I can be in charge of my own image. Thank you in advance.”

But when Coodie ran into Kanye a few days after the post, he told Rolling Stone that they “talked as brothers” and there was no mention of the post. “Me and Chike have a company called Creative Control,” Coodie explained. “Because you don’t want to lose your creative control.”

Chike also said that he expected this behavior from Ye. “If Kanye wasn’t as polarizing of a character as he was, we wouldn’t have an interesting doc,” Chike said. “This just comes with the territory. This is Kanye’s personality, so you just embrace it and then it’s going to take us, take us wherever it takes us. … This is the person that we’re dealing with. We all know what we’re dealing with.”
