Kai Cenat sat down with Eric Adams to discuss hosting a giveaway that doesn’t devolve into chaos.
A clip shows Cenat asking Adams, “Is there a world where I can ever give back on a big scale but the right way?”
The New York City mayor told Kai yes, mentioning the recent boxing event, Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves, held in Times Square in May that saw a “couple hundred thousand people attend,” Adams said, explaining that the night was “coordinated with the city.”
Adams then shared the proper way for Cenat to plan a giveaway.
“Now that you see your influence, now you have moved to another level. You can’t still do it on the level that you did before ‘cause now you blowing up,” Adams said. “Now you sit down with my team, I get the agencies involved, you map out what your plan is. … Now you got the city in alignment to make sure you can execute the plan that you want.”
Cenat responded, saying, “It would be fire if I did it the right way—did it one more time for the people."
Back in August 2023, the streamer hosted a giveaway in New York City’s Union Square, which quickly led to pandemonium and resulted in Cenat’s arrest, with police citing he didn’t have a permit for the event or a sanctioning from police.
The 23-year-old was facing several charges, including at least two counts of inciting a riot and unlawful assembly. In May 2024, news surfaced that the case was dismissed after Cenat agreed to pay $55,000 and publicly apologize.
"I apologize for the disruption and damage to the community, the park, the vehicles, and the storefronts in the area," Cenat said at the time. "I recognize this gathering impacted business owners and their employees by interfering with their ability to do business that afternoon thereby compromising their livelihoods. I apologize to the first responders who had to endure the backlash of this irresponsible promotion and work to restore calm."
