Julia Fox got creative with her Halloween costume this year, channeling Jackie O on the day of John F. Kennedy’s assassination.
Per TMZ, Fox dressed up as the former first lady for The Cursed Amulet’s Halloween party on Thursday night (October 30) in New York City. Fox donned a pink suit and pink pillbox hat, just like Jackie O on that fateful day in 1963, finishing the costume with white stockings, white gloves, a blue purse and blue heels.
The front of Fox’s suit outfit was also spattered with blood, as was her face, similarly to Jackie’s after JFK was fatally shot in the head right next to her in Dallas, Texas. In an Instagram post, Fox explained that her costume was an homage to Jackie, who called the widow’s pink, blood-stained suit "one of the most haunting juxtapositions in modern history."
"I’m dressed as Jackie Kennedy in the pink suit. Not as a costume, but as a statement. When her husband was assassinated, she refused to change out of her blood-stained clothes, saying, 'I want them to see what they’ve done,'" Fox wrote. "The image of the delicate pink suit splattered with blood is one of the most haunting juxtapositions in modern history. Beauty and horror. Poise and devastation."
She continued: "Her decision not to change clothes, even after being encouraged to, was an act of extraordinary bravery. It was performance, protest, and mourning all at once. A woman weaponizing image and grace to expose brutality. It’s about trauma, power, and how femininity itself is a form of resistance. Long live Jackie O."
According to the outlet, Jackie wore the suit even as Lyndon B. Johnson was sworn in. The suit is currently being kept at the National Archives.
In an interview with Vulture, Fox called her costume "Jackie O-Nasty," saying she was "serving bloody diva" and "single mom who's about to cash that check."
