JoJo Siwa is smitten with her new boyfriend, 32-year-old Chris Hughes. She recently said their relationship is “going great," per TMZ.
The 22-year-old received a lot of pushback after she and the British TV personality confirmed their romance earlier this month, particularly from the LGBTQ community. In 2021, Siwa came out as part of the LGBTQ community, and prior to Hughes, she almost exclusively dated queer people.
“The thing is is love is a beautiful rainbow, and I think that the LGBTQIA community needs to remember that love is love,” JoJo told TMZ. “I think the hate from within the community is something that I’ve learned a lot from, and I think that a lot of people get to grow from. And I’m one of those people.”
She went on to call Hughes her “favorite person in the world.” She added that she's "very grateful and very happy.” When asked if she has any thoughts on marriage, she responded, “So many thoughts.”
Siwa also touched on Miley Cyrus’ recent joke about Siwa’s sexuality, telling TMZ, “No love lost at all. She’s Miley Cyrus; I grew up loving her, I’ll forever love her.”
Cyrus teased Siwa about her sexuality earlier this month at the WorldPride festival in Washington, D.C. A video clip played during her concert showed Cyrus emerging from a closet.
“Oh my god, I haven’t been in there since the sixth grade. Enjoy coming out of the closet if this Pride is the time for you,” Cyrus said. “All right, I’m going back in to get some more pretzels and find JoJo Siwa and bring her back out.”
Siwa addressed Cyrus' joke on Instagram.
“I wasn’t sure how I felt about things for a couple of days… but I’ve started to come to some thoughts,” the former Dance Moms star wrote. “I don’t believe what Miley said at world pride was ill intended, honestly I think it was meant to be a joke, but just not very good one haha. Not what the world, or myself needs to hear anyday of the week. I messaged miley light heartedly about it and she replied and said ‘All love. Always.'”
Siwa and Hughes sparked romance rumors on the UK's Celebrity Big Brother in April and confirmed their relationship in June.
