Gypsy-Rose Blanchard’s pregnancy has her reflecting on family ties.
The Munchausen-by-proxy victim and media personality sat down with The Bachelor star Nick Viall for his The Viall Files podcast, in which he asked her if she thought about what kind of relationship her daughter would have with her late mother, Clauddine “Dee Dee” Blanchard if she were still alive.
"I mean, for me, it is heartbreaking because I do, from time to time, think about what could have been, and it makes me sad," Blanchard said, per People.
"So, I kind of put that in the back of my mind. And so, I mean, there has been questions on social media. Everybody asked the question, you know, 'What are you gonna tell your daughter whenever grandma isn't around?' My response to them is that [my stepmother] Kristy has become more of a mother to me than my own mother was," Gypsy explained.
"Kristy is going to be grandma," Blanchard added.
Over the summer Blanchard revealed that she was expecting a baby girl with now-boyfriend and ex-fiancé, Ken Urker. However, it seems that because of the terms of Blanchard’s parole, she and Urker are living apart and will continue to do so, even after their daughter is born. She currently lives with her father and stepmother, an “hour away” from Urker, she said on the podcast.
"I'm gonna be living there until I'm off of parole. So we're like, okay, how is this gonna work whenever the baby's born? Like, how many days could I spend with you, and how many days can you spend with me?" she said.
The expectant mom filed for divorce this April and rekindled her romance with Urker in the same month. The two previously became engaged as pen pals during her incarceration. Blanchard spent eight-and-a-half years in prison for the stabbing death of Dee Dee by Blanchard's then-boyfriend, Nicholas Godejohn in 2015. Godejohn is serving a life sentence.
