Grown Ups 3 is coming to Netflix.
Variety reports that the streamer confirmed the threequel is in development with the original cast of Adam Sandler, David Spade, Rob Schneider, Chris Rock, and Kevin James set o return.
Sandler and Tim Herlihy are co-writing the script, with Kyle Newacheck, who previously helmed the Sandler-Netflix projects Happy Gilmore 2 and Murder Mystery, set to direct.
The Grown Ups franchise follows a group of childhood friends reuniting during a summer vacation. The first movie grossed around $271 million worldwide after its 2010 theatrical release, and Grown Ups 2 followed in 2013, grossing $247 million worldwide. Both prior films were directed by Dennis Dugan and released through Sony's Columbia Pictures.
In 2020, Sandler and Netflix ironed out a new deal in which he committed to producing four more films to be distributed exclusively on the platform. The renewal came after he first inked a deal with Netflix in 2014 to make four movies, which was again re-upped in 2017 for four movies.
"Whether you know him as Sandman, the Water Boy, Billy Madison, Happy Gilmore, Nick Spitz or simply Adam, one thing is clear: our members can't get enough of him," Netflix CCO Ted Sarandos said in 2020. "They love his stories and his humor, as we saw with Murder Mystery. So I could not be more excited to extend our partnership with Adam and the Happy Madison team and deliver more laughs around the world."
In that time, Sandler has produced over 10 films, including two installments of Murder Mystery, Hubie Halloween, Hustle, and Happy Gilmore 2.
