Gal Gadot had a troubling health problem while she was pregnant with her fourth child.
The actress opened up about what she endured in an Instagram post, alongside a photo of her holding her newborn daughter, Ori, in a hospital bed. Gadot revealed that she suffered from a brain blood clot in February, the eighth month of her pregnancy—and wasn’t sure if she wanted to share this story at all.
One of the symptoms of the blood clot was “excruciating headaches,” which left her bedridden until she was able to get an MRI to find out what was going on.
“In one moment, my family and I were faced with how fragile life can be,” she wrote. “It was a stark reminder of how quickly everything can change, and in the midst of a difficult year, all I wanted was to hold on and live.”
She then underwent emergency surgery and welcomed Ori.
"My daughter, Ori, was born during that moment of uncertainty and fear,” Gadot added. “Her name, meaning 'my light,' wasn’t chosen by chance. Before the surgery, I told Jaron that when our daughter arrived, she would be the light waiting for me at the end of this tunnel."
She has since made a full recovery, writing that she ended up sharing her story because she wanted to “raise awareness and support others who may face something similar.”
Gadot now shares four daughters with her husband Jason Varsano. The couple welcomed Alma in 2011, Maya in 2017, Daniella in 2021, and Ori in 2024.
