DJ Akademiks has been banned from Twitch.
While the reason for his ban hasn’t yet been confirmed, it seems to be because Adin Ross appeared on Akademiks’ channel. Ross has been permanently suspended from the streaming platform since February 2023.
According to HotNewHipHop, on Monday night, the pair hopped on Twitch alongside OnlyFans creator Gucci3rdleg to grill him about allegedly giving an STI to another creator named Danae Davis, among other things.
It seems that wasn’t a problem for Twitch though—and that Ross’ presence was the main issue. Twitch’s rules say that users can’t broadcast with anyone who’s banned from the platform. The streaming platform's account enforcement explainer says banned streamers “may not appear or participate in the stream of a third-party channel.”
“If a banned user appears in a third-party channel while being suspended, this could cause the suspension of the channel they appear in,” the page continues.
Ak reacted to the news on X, writing a response to DJ Hed who retweeted a Complex post about the ban with a message that read, "Stay on Stream."
“I'll be back streaming tonight on YT at 8 PM EST for another 7 hours with over 17,000 watching concurrently the whole time," he wrote in response to DJ Hed. "Anyhow.. Hows ur podcast views lookin tho? Prolly could use a Kendrick Lamar stimmy huh?”
Elsewhere in his sea of tweets, Ak patted himself on the back by sharing a graphic about him being "YouTube's 9th biggest watched streamer in North America in the 3rd quarter of 2024."
In another tweet, he said his ban from Twitch will only last 72 hours. “Oh Btw... it was a 72 Hr Suspension on Twitch. Shouts to my Twitch partner manager,” he wrote. “Ngl they did warn me over like 4 times in the past bout streaming with Adin. They def dont fw that nigga lol. we on YT til then.”
He has over half a million followers on the platform. If you try to navigate to his channel, it says it’s “temporarily unavailable due to a violation of Twitch’s Community Guidelines or Terms of Service.” Akademiks has received a slap on the wrist before and was temporarily banned from Twitch in April 2023.
