50 Cent will now be the subject of a documentary.
The not-yet-titled, three-part Hulu series will explore how 50 “relentlessly reinvented himself across music, business, and film while redefining the rules of power, influence, and success,” a press release says. “Through an intimate and revealing lens, the series portrays a figure who has consistently transformed conflict and adversity into enduring cultural impact.”
Fif’s mainstream breakthrough record was 2003’s Get Rich or Die Tryin’, which included his No. 1 single “In Da Club.” After landing multiple No. 1 songs in the early aughts, he made his way into television and film with the 2014 premiere of the Starz show Power. Since then, he’s become a magnate in the TV world, with him most recently helming the hit Netflix documentary, Sean Combs: The Reckoning.
50 Cent will serve as an executive producer for the series under G-Unit Film & Television, with Mandon Lovett set to direct and Patrick Altema slated to serve as showrunner.
50 celebrated the news on Instagram, writing “Positive vibes,” next to a screenshot of Deadline’s article on the doc, which included a photo of him smiling in a suit.
He first posted about the doc as an April Fool’s Joke. On April 1, he announced that Hulu had invested tens of millions of dollars in the new project. He also included the TMZ logo, despite no such story actually having been published by the outlet or elsewhere.
“HULU wins in a bidding war against STARZ, NETFLIX, and APPLE for my new doc,” Fif wrote.
