Winston Duke and Zazie Beetz to Star in Indie Sci-Fi Thriller 'Nine Days'

Winston Duke and Zazie Beetz have been tapped to star in Nine Days—an independent thriller with supernatural components.

The film, set in a distant reality, will take place in the home of a reclusive man (Duke) as he interviews a group of individuals, each of them, "a personification of human souls." And what exactly are they interviewing for? The chance to be born.

Duke (Us, Black Panther) and Beetz (Atlanta, Joker) will star alongside It's Bill Skarsgård, Doctor Strange's Benedict Wong, and David Rysdahl. Nine Days was written and will be directed by commercials director Edson Oda, marking his feature film debut.

"I'm thrilled to be working with such an incredible cast and amazing team," Oda said in a statement. "So grateful for all the support I have received. Nine Days is a very personal story to me, and I can’t imagine a better team to help me tell it."

Deadline reports the film will begin production this summer. Duke will co-executive produce Nine Days with MACRO's Charles D. King and Kim Roth, The Space Program's Gus Deardoff, Mansa Productions' Kellon Akeem and Dwight Howard, Oak Street's Renée Frigo and Beth Hubbard, 30WEST's Trevor Groth, Mandalay's Will Raynor, Nowhere's Michelle Craig and Piero Frescobaldi, and Caroline Connor, Mark G. Mathis, Mark Stevens, and Larry Weinberg.
