Wendy Williams was reportedly hospitalized this week for mental health reasons.

According to TMZ, the 57-year-old talk show host was voluntarily admitted to a New York City hospital for a psychiatric evaluation. Though the publication reports Williams was transported to the facility on Tuesday, other outlets indicate she was taken at around 8 a.m. Wednesday, shortly after officers arrived at an apartment building where Williams resides.

“There was a call for a 57-year-old non-violent female who needed psychiatric services at that address on Wednesday morning,” NYPD spokesperson told The-Sun. “They were transported to the hospital.”

Williams, who has been open about her struggles with Graves’ disease, was scheduled to kick off season 13 of The Wendy Williams Show on Sept. 20. The show’s producers announced the news via Instagram last week, stating the eponymous host was “dealing with some ongoing health issues and is undergoing further evaluations.”

“She will not be able to complete her promotional activities next week, but can’t wait to be back in her purple chair on Monday, September 20th for the 13th season premiere,” the post read.

However, on Wednesday, The Wendy Williams Show Instagram page posted a message confirming the season premiere had been pushed back to Oct. 4, in wake of Williams’ COVID-19 diagnosis.

“While continuing her health evaluations, Wendy has tested positive for a breakthrough case of COVID-19,” the post read. “To allow Wendy time to quarantine and fully recover and to ensure that our production abides by all SAG/AFTRA and DGA Covid protocols, we expect to begin the 13th season of The Wendy Williams Show on Monday, October 4th. In the meantime, repeats will be scheduled.”

Williams was reportedly vaccinated when she contracted COVID-19. Sources tell TMZ she is asymptomatic, but is still being monitored by physicians.
