It's confirmed: The highly anticipated Harley Quinn spin-off will hit theaters on Feb. 7, 2020.
Warner Bros. announced the news Tuesday, along with a photo of the film's script, originally shared by Margot Robbie.
Though some fans assumed the handwritten portion was playfully added by Robbie, The Hollywood Reporter confirmed the movie's full title is, in fact, Birds of Prey (And The Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn).
The film will debut about four years after Robbie portrayed the homicidal Harley in DC's Suicide Squad. Though the project was considered a critical flop, Harley became an immediate fan-favorite.
Mary Elizabeth Winstead—Robbie's Birds of Prey co-star—shed more light on the movie's plot in a recent interview with Bionic Buzz.
"It's sort of a spinoff of Suicide Squad," she said. "It kind of follows Harley Quinn, which is Margot Robbie's character from those films, and this sort of girl gang that she puts together. I play Huntress, and we've got Black Canary, played by Jurnee Smollett-Bell, and Rosie Perez (as Renee Montoya) and Ewan McGregor (as villian Black Mask). It's a really fun, fun cast. We haven't started shooting yet, but we start shooting in January, and I can't wait."
Birds of Prey will be directed by Cathy Yan with a script by Christina Hodson (Bumblebee). Stay tuned as more information about the project becomes available.
