L.A. County District Attorney Office Is Reviewing Sexual Abuse Claims Against Steven Seagal

Los Angeles prosecutors are now reviewing sexual misconduct claims made against actor Steven Seagal.

According to Variety, the Beverly Hills Police Department submitted a case to the L.A. County D.A.’s Office on Jan. 31; however, officials have not revealed which abuse claim is currently under review. The news arrives nearly one month after the LAPD confirmed they were investigating the 65-year-old actor for an alleged sexual assault that took place in 2005. But it’s unclear if this incident is related to the aforementioned claim, as Seagal has faced multiple misconduct allegations in recent months.

Actress Regina Simons accused Seagal of raping her in 1993. She toldthe Wrap Seagal had invited her to party at his Beverly Hills home but when she arrived, Simons claimed that Seagal was the only one inside the residence.

“He took me into this room and then just closed the door and started kissing me,” she said. “He then took my clothes off and before I knew it he was on top of me, raping me… I wasn’t sexually active yet. People always talk about fight-or-flight. But no one talks about the freeze.”

Other actresses, including Jenny McCarthy, Katherine Heigl, Rachel Grant, and Portia de Rossi, have also accused Seagal of sexual assault and/or harassment. The actor has continued to deny the claims.

In a January appearance on Infowars, Seagal suggested that his accusers were being paid to tarnish his reputation.

“This is just a complete tragedy. This isn’t just me but hundreds of people around the world,” he told host Alex Jones. “[…] There is a whole force of people gathering around the world now putting in lots of money and lots of time investigation people who are coming are coming after us,” Seagal added in a remote interview from Japan. “The people who are being paid to lie and the people who are paying them to lie are going to be exposed.”
