Comedian Leslie Jones is headed back to the Games.
On Tuesday, it was announced that the Saturday Night Live star will contribute to NBC’s coverage of the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang, South Korea, where she will provide commentary, conduct interviews with athletes, and provide some much-appreciated enthusiasm throughout the two-week event.
“Experiencing the Olympics through the lens of Leslie is unlike anything else,” Jim Bell, NBC's president of Olympics production and programming, said in a statement to the Hollywood Reporter. “Her passion for Team USA is contagious, and her adventures in South Korea should be fascinating.”
Jones’ love for Olympic sports was well documented during the 2016 Summer Games in Rio. She initially covered the events from the comfort of her own home, live-tweeting everything she saw with unparalleled excitement and witty commentary.
After Bell caught wind of Jones’ coverage, he extended an invitation to the comedian to join the NBC team in Brazil. And, as we all know now, he wasn’t joking.
NBC’s Live primetime coverage of the 2018 Winter Olympics kicks off Feb. 8. And you already know Jones is wasting no time getting pumped. She recently uploaded a Twitter video in which she is seen working out on an elliptical machine while decked out in American flag gear.
