Kim Kardashian spent the day at one of America's most notorious prisons to speak with an accused murderer she believes is innocent.

According to TMZ, the reality star/aspiring attorney visited California's San Quentin on Thursday to meet with death row inmate Kevin Cooper. The 61-year-old was convicted of killing four people in Chino Hills, California, during the 1980s and was sentenced to death. Cooper has maintained his innocence over the last three decades, insisting he was framed. His legal team also says key evidence in the case was not properly analyzed and should be re-tested.

In December 2018, California's then-governor Jerry Brown granted Cooper's request and ordered new DNA analysis. Though the testing has not been conducted, California Gov. Gavin Newsom has suspended all executions during his term. Kardashian expressed her support for Newsom's anti-capital punishment stance via Instagram this year:

Sources tell TMZ Kardashian spent two hours speaking with Cooper, and was ultimately convinced he had been framed. She is now fighting to secure his exoneration and freedom.

Several weeks ago, it was reported that Kardashian had contributed to 90 Days of Freedom, a campaign that helped free 17 federal inmates who were convicted of low-level drug crimes. The initiative was started by Decarceration Collective lawyer MiAngel Cody and Kardashian's attorney Brittany K. Barnett.
