Jeannie Mai Reveals the Sex of Her and Jeezy's Newborn

After weeks of speculation, Jeannie Mai has finally revealed the sex of her new bundle of joy.

The 43-year-old TV host shared the news during Wednesday’s episode of The Real, just a week after she announced the name of her Jeezy’s first child together.

“I am very excited to share that Monaco Mai Jenkins is a girl!” Mai told her co-hosts via video stream. “ … We were shocked because everybody thought it was a boy. I want to say to all moms out there, the superstitions like how high your belly is and what your skin is like, all those things aren’t true. Throw them out the window. None of them are true.”

The Real hosts were seemingly thrilled with the news, with a number of them claiming to have know that Monaco was a baby girl all along. Mai and Jeezy, who tied the knot in March 2021, waited to confirm the sex of their newborn; however, some fans suspected it was a boy because of the name Monaco.

“I named the baby—well, we named the baby before was even born. And the baby’s name is meaning,” Mai explained, before opening up about being a mom to a little girl. “That’s the part that I’m still just so overwhelmed with. I can’t explain to you how many visions jumped into my head, this moment I put that little girl into my hands. I thought about my relationship with Mama Mai. That already, I can’t wait to have that bond with Monaco.”

She continued: “I also thought about all the things I didn’t learn as a little girl that I can’t wait to teach my daughter now. There’s just so many reasons why raising a little girl is such an honor to me. And I would have been happy with anything, but to have Monaco, I can’t tell you, I feel chosen. It’s emotional. I can’t wait to raise a strong, loving, empathetic, humorous, fashionable, fly little girl.”

Shortly after announcing her pregnancy, Mai told reporters she and Jeezy wanted the baby’s sex to be a surprise, and that not knowing didn’t hinder her preparation for the family addition.

“How many surprises do you actually have in life? This is the ultimate one,” she told Entertainment Tonight. “I want to have a gender-free planning with my husband. So everything that we are excited to do should apply to the child, no matter if it’s a boy or a girl.”
