Amy Schumer, Emily Ratajkowski Detained at Brett Kavanaugh Protests

Schumer and Ratajkowski joined a large group of demonstrators who are opposing Kavanaugh's possible appointment to the Supreme Court.

U.S. Capitol Police have detained Amy Schumer.

The 37-year-old comedian was one of the many women who traveled to Washington, D.C., on Thursday to protest Judge Brett Kavanaugh's potential appointment to the highest court. As pointed out by Variety, Schumer was among dozens of demonstrators who were detained at the Hart Senate Office Building on Capitol Hill.

“No matter how this goes, they cannot keep us down,” Schumer said during the protests. “We will win. A vote for Kavanaugh is a vote saying women don’t matter.”

Model Emily Ratajkowski was reportedly detained along with Schumer.

“Today I was arrested protesting the Supreme Court nomination of Brett Kavanaugh, a man who has been accused by multiple women of sexual assault,” she tweeted. “Men who hurt women can no longer be placed in positions of power.”

Thousands of people flooded into the nation’s capital to express their opposition to Kavanaugh’s Supreme Court nomination. The conservative judge is facing multiple accusations of sexual misconduct dating back to when he was in high school.

On the day of the protests, Senators were given an FBI report about the investigation into Kavanaugh’s alleged misconduct. Upon reviewing the confidential report, Democratic leaders blasted the FBI for conducting a limited probe that did not include interviews with key witnesses.

“The whole thing is sham. Five days to do the investigation,” Sen. Tim Kaine, D-Va said, as reported by NBC News. “And so, here is what they do. There is now a report. One copy. Only one copy that's available in the Senate SCIF,” he said, referring to a secure location where lawmakers can read the report for a limited amount of time. "So they don't want 100 senators to read it. I'm not allowed to discuss it. The public can't see it. It's a complete sham.”
