More than 80 people were killed and 126 injured in Turkey's capital, Ankara, after two bombs exploded during a peace rally this morning. Hundreds of demonstrators had gathered to protest the violence between authorities and the Kurdish militant group, the PKK, The Guardian reports. The video, recorded by Turkish news agency Dokuz8 Haber, shows protestors holding hands and chanting before the two explosions, which occurred around 10 a.m.
Turkish government officials said the explosions were a terrorist attack by a suicide bomber, but no terrorist organization has claimed responsibility for the bombings. Officials have condemned the attack; Turkish president Tayyip Erdoğan said, "No matter what its origin, aim or name, we are against any form of terrorist act or terrorist organization. We are obliged to be against it together."
After the attack, bodies lay in the street covered in flags and bandanas. According to witnesses, ambulances could not immediately reach the scene, and in some cases police hampered evacuation of the wounded from the square.
