Stephen Colbert had already filmed last night's episode of The Late Show when he found out about the terrorist attacks in Paris that left at least 153 dead, and for which ISIS has now claimed responsibility. According to the Daily Beast, Colbert broke the news to his audience during a commercial break and waited until the end of the CBS broadcast to deliver a message about the attacks to viewers:
"We'll see you on Monday," he said, and paused. He tapped the desk and took a deep breath. He turned away from the camera for a moment and then turned back. He appeared to be holding back tears. "Goodnight," he said, before the camera cut to black.
